Teder.FM Take Over

 

On Monday, 17.10, we’ll be doing our first ever full label profile, happening at pop-up radio-bar Teder, taking over from the early evening into deep in the night slot. Coinciding with Teder’s last week of programs for Summer 2011 and the end of the local holiday season, it’s a great opportunity for a full Botanika family gathering like we’ve never done before.

Starting at 8PM (Israel time, +2 GMT), and going on till the last drop (somewhere around 3Am or so), we’ll be showcasing the full Botanika artists roster, one by one, with special radio-friendly DJ sets, focusing on the artists and their productions, alongside interviews, inspirations, chats with designers involved with the label, special discounts on Botanika records and so forth.

Schedule will probably look like this:

8-9 PM – Markey Funk
9-10 – Michael  Cohen
10-11 – NDV (representing the wide NDV-Polar Pair spectrum)
11-12 – Bunny on Acid (his new ‘Bionic Dreams‘ has just been released on 2019 Records)
12-1 AM – Sabbo

2-3 – Amir Egozy

For the special occasion we’ll be offering one-time bundles of our vinyl & digital releases to be purchased on the spot.

Gilles Peterson in Tel Aviv

Tastemaker, labels founder and owner, crate digger, worldwide radio institution, globe trotting DJ – Gilles Peterson is all these and then some. Well, we could go on and fill up this page with props and praises, but we’ll leave it for tons of other sites that will do it better and in a more orderly manner… It’s enough to say, however, that Gilles  was and still is a huge influence on us Botanikats, in the last, er… 15 years, and that his weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 is going through a really good phase at the moment, playing a lot of fresh cuts, with insightful interviews with some of the most exciting artists on the planet.

This is Gilles’ second visit in Israel, 11 odd years after a gig at Tel Aviv’s port doomed Hangar. This time, Gilles will be able to enjoy one of the best sound-systems in the world, serving justice to his wide spectrum of sounds.

Local warm up will include Radio Trip, Zidan and The Block’s own Yaron Trax, while us, Botanika will take on the closing spot.

SubCulture ft Botanika & Von D (Argon/FR) @ Levontin7, 4.12

Perhaps not so well known around our shores, Von D is a dubstep DJ/producer form France with a great ear for groove & melody, walking the thin line between deep & quality & banging club material. His “So Many Faces b/w Bon” 12″ on Argon records has been a big favorite of mine for the past year, and just recently his tracks have been included on both Steppers Delight vol.2 on Soul Jazz and Dubstep Allstars vol.7 on Tempa, and being championed by the likes of Skream, Joker & Chef.

A super dope mix of his, containing mostly his own productions (as well as the forthcoming Joker on Tectonic), can be heard below, as well as the full interview here. We’ll be opening up, with Onili doing the hosting on the mic, while Nasty Habit & Nee will take charge of the last part of the night.
