Free, exclusive tracks from Polar Pair
Polar Pair are giving out free tracks every other Tuesday, on their newly launched tumblr. The tracks are either remixes of tracks from their forthcoming album, or stuff that didn’t fit in the album.
So far, three tracks have been released. Check them out right here.
The first track is Be Gone, ft. Eyal Glass on vocals. The remix is a slow house number, with a sub bass holding it together:
The second is Sing it Once (Minneapolis Version) – a sort of a house meets breakbeat on a sea-sick poisonous bass boat:

A free hush brownie
A couple of months ago I had a track featured on Leeds’ own Hush House blog. I hollered back, saying thanks and all, and was then asked to do an exclusive mix for them. The challenge was accepted and yesterday the mix went live – check it out here (download/stream).
I wanted the mix to be special, so I set out to do an exclusive re-edit of one of my favourite Prince tracks ever: I would Die 4 U. I tried to make the re-edit relevant to today’s dance floors by injecting the beat with some off-beat swing, adding a fat layer of sub bass and dubbing the hell out of the vocals.
I think it came out quite alright, so I’m letting you all grab this one for free, wav quality, right here.
Feel the Love
Electra, a local kick ass rock’n'roll band, have finally released their highly anticipated debut album, Heartbreak For Fools . I’ve been following the band quite early on, remixing their first ever single, Come Inside back in 2004 and remixing another, Better Sound, a couple of years later, so it was only logical that I will do another remix to celebrate the album launch.
The track I re-assembled is actually the b-side to the single Dawn of Summer. It’s a cover to the Donna Summer+Giorgio Moroder disco classic, I Feel Love. Electra gave the song a surprising and refreshing surf-rock flavor, and all I wanted to do is take their version and bring it back to the dancefloor. Give it an extended dub intro and reinforce the electronic-disco elements, imagining myself losing it to Carl Craig playing the original at an unforgettable party, some 10 years ago.
