On Monday, 17.10, we’ll be doing our first ever full label profile, happening at pop-up radio-bar Teder, taking over from the early evening into deep in the night slot. Coinciding with Teder’s last week of programs for Summer 2011 and the end of the local holiday season, it’s a great opportunity for a full Botanika family gathering like we’ve never done before.
Starting at 8PM (Israel time, +2 GMT), and going on till the last drop (somewhere around 3Am or so), we’ll be showcasing the full Botanika artists roster, one by one, with special radio-friendly DJ sets, focusing on the artists and their productions, alongside interviews, inspirations, chats with designers involved with the label, special discounts on Botanika records and so forth.
Here’s also a recent label profile and interview with us on Tel-Aviv’s ‘Ha-ir’ weekly (Hebrew)
Schedule will probably look like this:
8-9 PM – Markey Funk
9-10 – Michael Cohen
10-11 – NDV (representing the wide NDV-Polar Pair spectrum)
11-12 – Bunny on Acid (his new ‘Bionic Dreams‘ has just been released on 2019 Records)
12-1 AM – Sabbo
1-2 - Kalbata
2-3 – Amir Egozy
For the special occasion we’ll be offering one-time bundles of our vinyl & digital releases to be purchased on the spot.
You can either tune in and listen form afar, or if in the vicinity, join us at the Teder plaza for a beer & vegetables with techini. FB event here.
If you’re quick and reading this on the day of posting, you can also catch Egozy’s last Rasham-Kol radioshow on Teder, airing tonight between 9-11PM Israel time.
We’re totally hyped towards this coming Friday, 25.2, when Tel-Aviv will be hit by a UK brigade so heavy, our small shore hasn’t seen such since the end of the British mandate. Our smoky friends at TABAC have teamed up with the British Council to celebrate the local launch of the BC’s “The Selector” radioshow on IDC Radio, 106.4 FM (where btw – Nadav teaches radio), and to do that in extraordinary stylee, they’ve pulled up an unmissable line-up of UK selectors - El-B, Rustie & Bok-Bok – each of them alone a prime rib for a fine party. Ourselves, DJ Hectik & Kalbata will be supplying the local support, and it all goes for the really cheap rate of 60 NIS on the pre-sale and 70 at the door, taking place at the Comfort 13. FB event here.
TABAC’s Walter Einstein Frog and myself have prepared a 40-min introduction mix, so I suggested you press play and get on reading. Tracklist appears at the bottom.
For those not familiar with either El-B, Rustie or Bok Bok (and if you’ve been following us you probably are, even if you ain’t aware of it), let’s just say they are all prime players in the UK club scene, which in the past couple of years is flourishing like no other.
The Red Eye Familia crew in Jerusalem have been been holding the fort for a couple of years now. Bringing low frequencies mayhem and dubstep action to the capital, the Red Eye Familia have quite simply done the impossible.
For this excuse of a winter, while celebrating the rising profile of the familia’s very own Bunny on Acid, they have organized a series of 3 parties at the Jerusalem Bass club – two of these parties are done in collaboration with us.
This Friday, December 3rd, the line up features Egozy+Onili, doing their unique live act together, in a rare club performance. They are followed by Kalbata, playing a set which consists mostly of his own productions. The locals, Mofo and of course, Bunny on Acid, are playing too, playing a selection that will be both mad and surprising.
The next party, on January 14th, features NDV, who’s just finished a new remix for Bunny on Acid’s Oxygen, for a forthcoming release on Botanika.
Here’s a small taster for the party:
Check out the Facebook event page,
and meet us in Jerusalem. You have two chances, make sure you don’t miss them both!
Dialogue Inc is a radio show and a blog, curated by Chicago’s Mister Joshua P. Ferguson. Josh is a local DJ who was recently nominated in URB as one of America’s best local DJs, and by day he’s the editor of the night life section at Time Out Chicago.
Josh asked me to do a special Botanika feature for Dialogue Inc, and I happily obliged. First of all, there’s the music. I did a 50 mins Botanika showcase, previewing some unreleased material and some other gems by the artists on the Botanika roster, and in-between all of this goodness, I scattered some tracks by other musicians we like and respect, just to put things in the right context..
Anyway, you can find the post right here, including a short interview with myself, and the show’s tracklist.
In the meantime, start listening here
