8 years in 8 hours – so long 106FM!

It’s been 8 years ago, on a Thursday night, that we started broadcasting a weekly DJ set on 106FM (Kol Hakampus). It was a place for us to rinse the hottest tunes, test the newest sounds, explore many musical directions, have a few guests (from Diplo to TIm Sweeney) and most of all – get you ready for a proper weekend.

Many things have changed since we started 8 years ago. Botanika FM became available also as a podcast – on our website and elsewhere, our taste in music evolved and shifted, and by supporting many local producers and musicians, we finally added the tag “Label” to our mission statement.

And 8 years down the road, we decided it’s time to end this chapter at 106FM. And we are doing so with no less than an 8 hours radio takeover. On Thursday, September 6th, starting at 10 PM and finishing at 6 AM (!!), we will play a selection of the best music and best radio shows we had on offer.

The 4 hours between 10PM-2AM will be a specially recorded set, playing the best of Botanika FM, and over the remaing 4 hours, we have selected 4 of the best shows to be re-run and reminisced.

Teder.FM Take Over

On Monday, 17.10, we’ll be doing our first ever full label profile, happening at pop-up radio-bar Teder, taking over from the early evening into deep in the night slot. Coinciding with Teder’s last week of programs for Summer 2011 and the end of the local holiday season, it’s a great opportunity for a full Botanika family gathering like we’ve never done before.

Starting at 8PM (Israel time, +2 GMT), and going on till the last drop (somewhere around 3Am or so), we’ll be showcasing the full Botanika artists roster, one by one, with special radio-friendly DJ sets, focusing on the artists and their productions, alongside interviews, inspirations, chats with designers involved with the label, special discounts on Botanika records and so forth.
